Hell is horrible! Actually that is a gross understatement. Hell is beyond horrible. As we read in the New Testament it’s a place where the “worm does not die, and the fire is not quenched” (Mark 9:44), and it’s a place where “there will be weeping and gnashing of teeth” (Matthew 25:30). Furthermore it’s a place that you can never get out of, a place in which its occupants will reside forever. So in truth the word horrible does not do justice to the reality of hell. And many believers in Jesus Christ know that to be true, which is why to have doubts about your own salvation, about the genuineness of your own salvation, can be so terrifying, even paralyzing. Now that may be you. You may be the person I have just described, for right now at this stage of your experience you have doubts. You are questioning whether or not you truly belong to the Lord. You’re just not sure whether you are on foot or horseback, whether you are saved or lost....
